The Western Sydney Wanderers have made it three consecutive wins in the Foxtel Y-League after defeating Sydney FC 3-1 at Marconi Stadium on Friday night.

Goals from Abraham Majok, Lachlan Scott and Mohamed Adam ensured a comfortable win for the Red & Black after Jeremy Cox opened the scoring for Sydney FC.

There was a cautious start to the game from both sides, but then Sydney took the lead in the ninth minute with Cox converting a cross from the right win.

The Wanderers didn’t let their heads drop and took control of the game. Mark Tokich had an opportunity with a free kick, only to see his powerful effort saved by Sydney FC goalkeeper Alex Cisak.

match report

After chances for Abraham Majok and Moudi Najjar, Kosta Grozos went on a bursting run into the penalty area, shooting just over the crossbar.

With five minutes left in the first half, the Red & Black were inches away from an equaliser. Grozos and Majok combined to set up Lachlan Scott, whose shot was diverted onto the post by Cisak.

The Wanderers would eventually get a deserved equaliser on the stroke of halftime. Scott did well to win the ball in midfield, before finding Majok, who slotted the ball low past Cisak.

match report

The team started the second half the same way that they finished the first.

Scott and Tokich were involved again, the latter forcing Cisak into another save.

Just after the hour mark, the Wanderers finally took the lead.

Grozos started the move with a diagonal ball to Tokich who beat two defenders before playing in a perfect through ball to Scott who finished emphatically into the roof of the net.

The Wanderers would make it 3-1 with just under 15 minutes remaining.
