Get to know: Peninsula Power

The Wanderers are set to kick off their 2025 Australia Cup campaign with an away trip to Queensland to face Peninsula Power in the Round of 32.

The clash marks a return to the national stage for the Power, who are no strangers to the Australia Cup Final Rounds. This year’s appearance is their fifth overall, with their best run coming in 2022 when they reached the Quarter Finals.

Based in Redcliffe, Peninsula Power call A J Kelly Park home and have been a competitive force in Queensland football since their formation in 2000. The club is led by Head Coach Aaron Philip, who has guided the side through an impressive qualifying run.

Peninsula booked their place in the Round of 32 with a goal-laden campaign, netting 21 goals across four matches.

They began with a 4-1 win over Logan Metro before dismantling Brisbane Knights 11-2 in a dominant display.

A crucial 3-1 victory over current NPL Queensland leaders, Queensland Lions, showed their credentials, and they sealed qualification with a hard-fought 3-2 win over Marlin Coast Rangers.

This will be the Power’s first match against Western Sydney Wanderers, who return to the competition as two-time semi-finalists. Peninsula’s last Australia Cup appearance saw them eliminated by A-Leagues opposition Wellington Phoenix in 2023, and they’ll be aiming to go one better this time around.
