Habuda inks deal

Western Sydney Wanderers FC have today confirmed the signing of forward Isabella Habuda for the upcoming Liberty A-League season.

The Ontario native has been in Australia for the last two years, playing in the Football Queensland Women’s National Premier League competition with Gold Coast United.

Habuda has had a career that has spanned the globe, having played for the likes of Ramat-Hasharon in Israel, Umea UK in Sweden, and SK Sturm Graz in Austria.

Head coach Catherine Cannuli said she was excited to see Habuda in action in the upcoming Liberty A-League season.

“Bella has been a fantastic addition to our squad so far and we’re excited to see all her hard work this pre-season translate to match day,” said Cannuli.

“Her vast international experience combined with her team-first mentality have made her a bright spark in our squad this season.”

Habuda said she was looking forward to her first match for the club tomorrow night against Wellington Phoenix.

“It’s been a big step up from NPL, training is more intense but I really like it. I feel like I came to Australia striving to play in the Liberty A-League,” said Habuda.

“It’s been great and the girls have been great.

“I’m really excited for our first matchday (this Friday against Wellington), this is what we have prepared for over the last 6-8 weeks. It’s such a big opportunity for me and the club, we’ve worked so hard.

“I’m so excited, it’s going to be my first game for the club and I’m just excited for the experience and I think it’s going to be a really good season for us.”
