HAL: Ins & Outs for Boxing Day Clash

Carl Robinson

Markus Babbel has named his extended squad for Wednesday’s trip to face Adelaide United in Round 9 of the Hyundai A-League.

The Wanderers will hope to head into the new year with three points to take back home as they look to bounce back after a derby defeat.

It will be the meeting of the Hyundai A-League’s two German managers at Coopers Stadium on Wednesday evening, as the home side led by Marco Kurz, look to find form themselves coming off two consecutive losses, their last victory coming against Brisbane Roar last month.

The pairing of Wanderers playmaker Alex Baumjohann in the centre & hitman Oriol Riera up front will be a threat once more, with Riera scoring his 7th goal across all competitions against Sydney FC in Round 8.

Notable omissions include Jaushua Sotirio (Hamstring) & Vedran Janjetovic (1 match suspension) with teenage shotstoppers Nick Suman and Jack Greenwood being thrown in the deep end from their Foxtel Y-League commitments.
