Halloway will be playing in her fifth Westfield W-League season for the club, having made 46 appearances and scored seven goals.
The talented and determined attacker has been a leader both on and off the field, inspiring a new generation of Wanderers players.
Head coach Dean Heffernan said that naming Halloway as the club’s captain was an easy decision.
“It wasn’t a hard decision, she’s been at the club for such a long time. She’s a top person and gets the team together, helps with the type of environment and mentality we are trying to build here,” said Heffernan.
“We’re very lucky to have Erica as a leader and she has virtually taken on the role over the last few weeks anyway before we announced it.”
A fan favourite, Halloway said she was honoured to be named the club’s captain ahead of the season opener tonight against Adelaide United at Marconi Stadium.
“I’m stoked, so honoured and so happy. What a bunch of girls to lead,” said Halloway.
“I have been here for five years, I’ve been co-captain for some of those and this year there is something really special about the group that has come together.
“We’ve had some great signings, we have incredible facilities and we have the new stadium. We have so much to look forward to this season and hopefully, I can be the first captain to lead us to the Finals Series.”
