Wanderers defender Brendan Hamill believes the team is raring to go for their first competitive fixture of the season after a gruelling seven weeks of pre-season.
The Hyundai A-League squad came together in early July to start preparations for the upcoming season with Hamill believing that this early start has helped build camaraderie in the team.
“(Pre-season) has been pretty tough. The boys have been working really hard for six-to-seven weeks now,” explained Hamill.
“We had a little camp in the Gold Coast, which was pretty fun but it’s been a standard pre-season for us.
“The coaching staff have a plan and we’ve been working hard as there are still eight weeks to go.
“But I think the boys are enjoying it and we’re moulding into a pretty good group.”
The team have travelled up to the Northern Territory to face the state’s sole representative in the FFA Cup, Hellenic AC, in the Round of 32.
The Wanderers will be looking to go one better in this year’s tournament with their sights already set on bringing home some silverware.
“It’s a chance for us to win silverware and that’s what this club is about,” said Hamill.
“We prepare as best as we can and we have done that, so we will be going out there to put on a good performance and get a good result.
“We have to execute our game plan and that’s what we are looking to do tonight.”
