Western Sydney Wanderers FC can confirm the departures of Amy Harrison, Danika Matos, Ying Wang, Alana Cerne and Ava Collins following the conclusion of their contracts.
The departures see the Club farewell two significant figures in the history of the Wanderers’ women’s program, with Harrison and Matos having represented the Red & Black on a combined 207 occasions.
Danika Matos departs the Wanderers as the Club’s all-time appearance leader in the Ninja A-League Women, having represented the Red & Black on 111 occasions.
A product of Western Sydney, Matos developed into a mainstay of the Wanderers across her seven seasons at the Club, becoming synonymous with the women’s program through her consistency, versatility and commitment.
Capable of playing across a number of positions, Matos’ reliability saw her become a regular presence in the side across multiple eras of the Wanderers and she leaves having made more appearances for the Club than any other player in the history of the women’s team. Her contribution both on and off the pitch, as well as her connection to Western Sydney, has made Matos an important part of the Club’s history.
Amy Harrison also departs following an outstanding contribution across multiple spells at the Wanderers, finishing her time at the Club with 96 appearances, the third-most in the history of the women’s team.
Harrison has been a significant figure in Red & Black since first joining the Wanderers and played a key role in the Club’s historic 2019/20 campaign, which saw Western Sydney qualify for the Finals Series for the first time. After returning to the Wanderers following a stint abroad with PSV Eindhoven, Harrison continued to establish herself as a leader within the squad and was later appointed Club captain.
The midfielder’s influence also extended into the attacking third, with her nine goals placing her third on the Wanderers’ all-time women’s goalscoring list.
Across her time in Western Sydney, Harrison’s leadership, professionalism and passion for the Club have made her an influential figure within the women’s program.
Head coach Geoff Abrahams paid tribute to Harrison’s contribution and leadership during her time in Red & Black.
“Amy has been an outstanding leader and an incredibly important person for this football club,” said Abrahams.
“To play almost 100 games for one club is a significant achievement and Amy has given so much to the Wanderers across different periods of her career.
“We’re incredibly grateful for everything Amy has contributed and she leaves with the respect of everyone within the football program.”
Abrahams also praised Matos for the consistency and commitment she has shown throughout her time at the Club.
“Danika has been an incredible servant to this Club and what she has achieved across seven seasons speaks for itself. To become the all-time appearance leader for the Wanderers women’s team is a fantastic achievement and a reflection of her consistency, professionalism and commitment to the team.”
“Danika is Western Sydney through and through and she should be incredibly proud of the legacy she leaves behind at this Club. She will always be an important part of the Wanderers family.”
Defenders Ying Wang and Alana Cerne also depart the club after adding further Ninja A-League experience and stability to the Wanderers back-line.
New Zealand international Ava Collins will also leave the Club after joining the Wanderers during the 2025/26 campaign and contributing to the squad during her time in Red & Black.
