Western Sydney Wanderers FC have today confirmed that midfielder Amy Harrison has been named the club’s captain for the upcoming Liberty A-Leagues season.
A Western Sydney local, the midfielder has had an international career that has spanned the globe with seasons played in the United States and the Netherlands.
Harrison has embodied what it means to be a winner throughout her career, having been an instrumental part of the Wanderers most successful season in A-League Women’s history in 2019 as well as winning several trophies both internationally and domestically in her career.
Western Sydney Wanderers head coach Robbie Hooker praised the appointment of Harrison as club captain.
“Having only been at the club for a short period of time, Amy has stood out as one of the natural leaders of the group with her experience, communication skills and most importantly, passion for the club,” said Hooker.
“Amy plays an influential role not only on the field, but off it, where she has spen time guiding our young group of players and helping them become the best versions of themselves.
“We are delighted to have Amy wear the armband for the coming season.”
Harrison said she is proud to represent the club.
“It’s super important for me to represent the Western Sydney region,” said Harrison.
“As a Western Sydney girl, I know what the area stands for and how passionate the community is.
“It’s a unique group of people who come from different parts of life and I am so proud to represent our Wanderers family.”
