Western Sydney Wanderers FC have this morning confirmed the signing of Dutch midfielder Jorrit Hendrix for the upcoming Isuzu UTE A-Leagues season.
Hendrix is set to play in Australia for the first time after a prolific career in Europe that has seen him play in over 320 professional matches.
At the age of eight, the midfielder joined Dutch giants PSV Eindhoven and worked his way up from the club’s Academy to the first team where he became a vital part of club’s midfield for 11 seasons.
In his first 100 matches for the club, PSV won 78, placing Hendrix in the Top 10 players with the most Eredivisie victories in their first 100 matches in the Dutch top-flight.
After dominating the Eredivisie with PSV, winning three titles, two Super Cups and guiding the side to a UEFA Champions League Round of 16 appearance in 2017, Hendrix made the move to Spartak Moscow where they finished as the runners-up later that season.
His second season in Russia saw him loaned back to the Eredivisie with Feyenoord where he made an instant impact and was part of the squad that qualified for the UEFA Europa Conference League Final, losing out to Italian side Roma in 2022.
More recently, Hendrix has been in Germany with Fortuna Dusseldorf where he has featured in 20 matches.
A proven winner, the midfielder is set to add depth and international experience to head coach Marko Rudan’s side for the coming A-Leagues season.
Hendrix will arrive in Australia in the coming week.
