Ins & Outs: Brisbane v Wanderers

Head coach Alen Stajcic has named his extended squad for Friday night’s fixture against Brisbane Roar at Suncorp Stadium.

The Wanderers will be determined to set the record straight against Brisbane Roar, a team that has proven to be a frustrating obstacle in recent years.

Their last encounter at CommBank Stadium in December was a prime example, with the Wanderers dominating large stretches of the match but ultimately forced to settle for a draw.

Brandon Borrello delivered a standout performance, netting twice against his former club, but an unfortunate own goal and a Thomas Waddingham strike denied the Red & Black all three points.

Brisbane’s approach on the night — marked by excessive timewasting and coach Ruben Zadkovich instructing his players to go down with cramp — drew heavy criticism.

Now, with Waddingham having departed for England, the Wanderers will look to capitalize on Brisbane’s weakened attack and make a statement in this crucial clash to close out January.
