Western Sydney Wanderers head coach Geoff Abrahams has named his extended squad for our midweek clash against Melbourne City.
Western Sydney Wanderers head to Melbourne riding the momentum of a historic Sydney Derby win, as they prepare to face Melbourne City in a midweek Ninja A-League clash.
The Red & Black produced a statement performance at Allianz Stadium last weekend, claiming a 3–2 victory over Sydney FC with goals from Amy Chessari, Allyssa Ng-Saad and Yuan Cong. The result marked the Wanderers’ first Derby win since 2019 and showcased the side’s growing belief, resilience and attacking threat against top opposition.
Melbourne City, meanwhile, will be eager to respond after a narrow 2–1 defeat to Adelaide United. Despite creating chances and enjoying strong periods of pressure, City were unable to complete the comeback and will look to bounce back on home soil as they remain firmly in the finals mix.
With confidence high and momentum building, the Wanderers will be aiming to carry their Derby energy into another tough test against one of the competition’s benchmark sides.
