The Red & Black head into the match after a fiery contest against Adelaide United at CommBank Stadium.
Adelaide snatched all three points after defeating Western Sydney 3-2 with Socceroo Craig Goodwin assisting Ben Warland’s second headed goal of the evening.
Warland’s two goals came on either side of former teammate Kusini Yengi’s equaliser before Hiroshi Ibuski made 3-1 before Wanderers captain Marcelo cut the margin to just one goal on the hour mark.
The night unfortunately belonged to the Reds, who were helped on their way to victory by a Marcelo red card in second-half stoppage time as the visitors went 11 games unbeaten, moving to within one point of Melbourne City at the top of the table.
Meanwhile, Macarthur also dropped points after two late goals from Perth Glory on Saturday night.
Macarthur grabbed the lead against the run of play through Lachlan Rose in the 43rd minute of Saturday night’s match.
But Glory hit back in devastating fashion in the second half, with headed goals from Adam Taggart and defender Mark Beevers in the 69th and 74th minutes sending the home crowd into raptures.
