Head coach Alen Stajcic has named his extended squad for Saturday night’s local rivalry clash against Macarthur FC at Campbelltown Stadium.
Western Sydney have already secured their spot in the Finals Series following last week’s win over Newcastle, but they head to Campbelltown with a top-two finish firmly in their sights—something they haven’t achieved in nine years.
It all comes down to a dramatic final day of the A-League Men season, with multiple teams jostling for position.
The Wanderers sit fourth on 43 points—one ahead of Melbourne Victory, two behind Melbourne City, and just one behind Western United.
A win over Macarthur, coupled with dropped points from both Melbourne City (against our crosstown rivals) and Western United (against Auckland FC), would propel the Wanderers into second place. That would mean a valuable week off during the first round of finals and a coveted return to the Asian Champions League.
But there’s plenty at stake—any slip-up could see the Wanderers miss out on a home final next weekend.
