There’s no better way to start a season than a home Sydney Derby!

There are so many added layers to this derby match than usual, making it one of the most
highly anticipated in the fixtures history.

The biggest drawcard will be the potential debut of Wanderers marquee signing Juan Mata, with the former World Cup and European Championship winner having now settled into life in
Western Sydney.

The 36-year-old has the quality to break a game open all by himself, and announcing himself on the derby stage would be the perfect way to begin his career in Red and Black.

He could be going directly against our opponents own marquee signing, as Brazilian attacking
midfielder Douglas Costa could also make his league debut at CommBank Stadium on
Saturday.

It also marks the beginning of the Alen Stajcic era in the league for the Wanderers, as the former Matildas coach looks to lead the Wanderers back to the top heights of the A-League.
