The Wander Women are set to make their home debut for the season, aiming for a first win in front of their passionate members and fans after a hard-fought draw against Newcastle.

In a thrilling season opener in the Hunter heat, the Wanderers started strong, striking twice within the first half-hour thanks to goals from standout Sophie Harding and the returning young talent Sienna Saveska.

However, a last-minute goal in the first half gave Newcastle a lifeline, and they leveled the score in the 61st minute with a strike from Lauren Allen, resulting in the two sides sharing the points.

Now, the Wanderers turn their focus to Adelaide United, a team they faced in two tight contests last season.

The Reds claimed a narrow 1-0 victory at Wanderers Football Park, courtesy of an early penalty, while at Coopers Stadium, Adelaide staged a comeback with two quick goals in the second half to secure a 2-1 win.

The Wanderers will be eager to reverse last season’s results and clinch a decisive win on home soil.
