The Wanderers will be desperate for three points when they meeting Wellington Phoenix on Wednesday night at Bankwest Stadium.

With Finals hopes on the line, the Red & Black need a win against Wellington to build momentum and crack the Top Six.

The Red & Black head into the match after a very frustrating Derby defeat which saw them lose the fixture for the first time since 2018.

Meanwhile, Wellington will be raring to go after a 3-0 win over Western United in their first match at home in over 433 days.

Clayton Lewis was the opening scorer, benefiting off a deflection off United defender Brendan Hamill to break the deadlock after the visiting side put on a resolute first-half showing in the face of incessant Phoenix pressure.

A ten-minute blitz in the second half sealed the points for the Phoenix. Reno Piscopo hammered his 57th-minute strike into the top corner before Tomer Hemed put a simple finish to a well-placed Louis Fenton cross six minutes later to get the home crowd rocking at Sky Stadium.

Wellington, like the Wanderers, sit outside of the Top 6 with 31 points with the match proving to be a do-or-die fixture for both clubs.
