Bankwest Stadium was awash with intoxicating sights, sounds, aromas and emotion for the first installment of the Sydney Derby at the Wanderers’ new home.

Fans draped in red, black and sky blue flocked to the stadium and surrounding streets of Parramatta before, during and after the game, serving up a concoction of noise and colour which sparked new life into one of the biggest rivalries in the Hyundai A-League.

After three years without a home, the Wanderers have made an emphatic return to Parramatta and the fans have responded in style, with the RBB turning out in their droves to back their side into the Sydney Derby.

As if going to script, the Wanderers staved off wave after wave of Sydney FC attacks to hold onto a 1-0 win, ending their first Sydney Derby at their new home in style.

And at the full-time whistle the crowd rejoiced, for football had well and truly returned to Wanderland.
