It’ll be a proud moment: Williams on visit to Wanderland

Wanderers captain Rhys Williams and his family visited CommBank Stadium ahead of Saturday night’s blockbuster Sydney Derby.

Williams, who joined the club this season, visited CommBank Stadium ahead of the Red & Black’s season opener against Sydney FC on Saturday night.

The towering defender has been a force to be reckoned with since his arrival in Western Sydney and was recently named the club’s captain, an honour that he isn’t taking lightly.

“To lead the boys onto this ground, it will be amazing you know, especially in the Sydney Derby when it’s full and rocking,” said Williams.

“It’ll be a proud moment and I’m sure my kids, and my wife, and my family will feel the same.

“To walk through the tunnel here where all the fans are, to be on the pitch warming up, ultimately playing and hopefully winning as well will be amazing.”Bankwest Stadium

Williams has heard lots about the blockbuster Sydney Derby and believes. the team have put themselves in the right position to kick the season off strongly.

“It’s beautiful, it’s brand new. It’s perfect to be honest. I’d like to see it full in the Derby please, that will give us a big kick,” said Williams. 

“I’ve heard so much about it and I just honestly cannot wait to experience it. We’ve put. ourselves in the best possible situation, fitness-wise and mentality wise to do the best we can on the day.

“I just can’t wait to see the stadium full.”
