Western Sydney Wanderers FC have today confirmed the return of forward Leena Khamis for the Westfield W-League 2020/21 season.
Khamis returns to the club after a recent stint at Canberra United where she featured in 12 matches and scored two goals.
The striker was previously at the Wanderers during the 2018/19 season where she also scored two goals.
Since 2008, Khamis has been a prominent part of Westfield W-League history having scored the competition’s very first goal and has won the Premiership and Championship.
Head coach Dean Heffernan said he was looking forward to getting to work with Khamis.
“Leena has a wealth of experience that many of our young players can learn from and has been pivotal in shaping the Westfield W-League competition into what it is today,” said Heffernan.
“We’re looking forward to working with Leena and bringing the best out of her this Westfield W-League season.”
Khamis said she was excited to be back in the Red & Black.
“I caught up with Dean (Heffernan) and had a good chat with him about the team and their goals for the upcoming season and it went from there. I’m really excited to be a part of it and look forward to the upcoming season… Western Sydney is home,” said Khamis.
“Every year that I play I want to win. It’s every player’s dream of making Finals and winning the league. So I hope this season we go one better than last season and make it to the Grand Final.”
