Off the back of their best performance of the season, the Western Sydney Wanderers FNSW League One side will be looking to extend their unbeaten run as they travel to face Mounties Wanderers at Cook Park.
Having last tasted defeat more than two months ago, the young Wanderers are hitting form at the right time; goals from Connor Rose and Jordi Swibel helped them defeat St George City 2-0 last time out.
Despite missing Alex Bonetig and Alessandro Lopane, and having several players being eased back after injury, the side was in total control from start to finish, a highly impressive performance considering St George were ahead on the table before the match.
Their attack continues to be the best in the competition with 48 goals in 14 games, whilst a third clean sheet of the season was a sign of encouragement for the coaching staff.
Nectar Triantis in particular was impressive last week, showing an authoritative and assertive performance as he marshalled the defence to success.
He will be hoping for a similar outcome on Saturday against a Mounties side that has nosedived after a positive start to the season.
Having lost six in a row with only two goals scored in that time, they sunk to their lowest ebb last round with a 6-0 home defeat to Central Coast.
Whilst Bruno Pivato brings quality and class to the midfield, and Brad Bartels has nine goals – including two the last time the sides met – they have clearly lost their way as the season has progressed.
The reverse fixture saw Western Sydney run out 5-2 winners, with Alex Badolato scoring a double and Lopane netting a goal of the season contender.
A win for the boys in Red & Black would see them temporarily go top of the table before Central Coast’s match on Sunday.
