League One Preview: Mounties Wanderers vs Western Sydney Wanderers

The Western Sydney Wanderers League One side will be looking to bounce back from last week’s defeat, facing up against Mounties Wanderers on Sunday Afternoon.

After scoring 10 goals in their first two games, the Wanderers were hoping to continue their fine start to the season away to St George City.

However, a double from Paolo Mitry would be enough to earn the home side a 3-2 win and inflicted a first defeat of the season for the men in Red & Black.

Whilst there were some positives, with Jordi Swibel netting two goals to take his tally to seven in just three games, coach Tomi Vidovic will be keen to see his side get back to winning ways and stay near the top of the table.

In their way stand Mounties Wanderers, who are the designated home team despite the match taking place at the Wanderers Football Park.

They also experienced their first defeat of the season, going down 2-1 to the Central Coast Mariners in a tight tussle.

Mounties, whose roster underwent a massive overhaul in the offseason, have been one of the most improved sides so far.

After only amassing five points for the whole of last season, they have picked up four points in their first three games, with a late 1-0 win over Bonnyrigg in the opening round and a 2-2 draw with Hakoah.

The two sides met twice last season, with Western Sydney winning both games 5-0 and 3-2 respectively.

The Wanderers will count on their players with A-League experience to help them conquer a resurgent Mounties side, with Swibel and Alex Badolato leading from the front, and Mark Natta and Daniel Wilmering looking for a second clean-sheet of the season.
