The Western Sydney Wanderers have qualified for their first ever Foxtel Y-League Grand Final after a convincing 3-0 victory over Newcastle Jets on Saturday.

Abraham Majok fired the Wanderers to victory, netting a hat-trick to take his tally for the Foxtel Y-League season to nine goals in ten games.

The Red & Black started the match brightly and it wasn’t long until they were in front.

Kosta Grozos helped craft the opener with a mazy run that saw him fire a shot against the base of the post with Majok on hand to score from the rebound.

The Wanderers doubled their advantage after Mohamed Adam found space on the left side and played the ball across the penalty area for Majok who scored his second of the contest.

Western Sydney were dominating possession and almost scored their third when Mathieu Cordier’s shot was parried by Jets goalkeeper Kane Runge.

Cordier was also playing well at the other end of the park, making two crucial challenges in the space of a couple of minutes to maintain the Wanderers two goal lead.

With about ten minutes left in the first half, Lachlan Scott attempted to lob the keeper after being played through on goal, only to get too much height on the shot.

Newcastle had some chances of their own through Kosta Petratos and Joey Champness, and even had the ball in the back of the net at one stage but it was ruled for offside.

The opening minutes of the second half were quiet, except for a couple of long distance efforts from the Jets which were easily dealt with by Jerrad Tyson.

As the Wanderers began to re-assert themselves, Scott created a solid chance for Mark Tokich, who unfortunately couldn’t hit the target with his effort.

However, the Wanderers kept the pressure on and made it 3-0 with 20 minutes left. Scott played an excellent through ball behind the defence and Majok was able to dribble around the keeper and complete his hat-trick.

Newcastle pushed for a consolation goal but were denied through the immense work of Tyson who made three excellent saves to preserve the clean sheet.

The Wanderers secured the 3-0 victory away from home, finishing at the top of the Foxtel Y-League Group B table and will now face Melbourne City in the Grand Final. Details will be confirmed in the coming days.
