Match Preview: Sydney Derby

Sydney face an in-form Western Sydney Wanderers side who have not suffered defeat in four A-League Men matches on Saturday at CommBank Stadium.

Western Sydney Wanderers sit in second place on 24 points through 15 matches. Wanderers won their last A-League Men match 1-0 at home against Western United, extending their unbeaten streak to four (W1 D3 L0).

Sydney defeated Central Coast Mariners 3-2 at home in their last A-League Men match, leaving them in sixth place on 20 points.

The previous A-League Men fixture between the teams saw Wanderers triumph 1-0 at Allianz Stadium in November. Kusini Yengi scored for the Wanderers in the 70th minute.

Sydney’s most prolific players have been Adam Le Fondre and Joe Lolley, who have netted six and five times, respectively. Le Fondre is tied for fourth among the league’s top scorers in 2022/2023, while Lolley is tied for sixth.

On home soil this season, Wanderers have four wins, two draws, and one loss in seven A-League Men contests. In league matches on the road this season, Sydney have earned 13 points from 24 available (W4 D1 L3).

In their last six league matches, Wanderers have won two, drawn three and lost one. Sydney, meanwhile, have won three, drawn one and lost two in their last six.
