McComasky signs for two seasons

Western Sydney Wanderers FC have confirmed the signing of defender Madison McComasky for the next two Liberty A-Leagues seasons.

The 23-year-old is set to play in her second season of the domestic competition after a breakout year with Canberra United in 2022/23.

The defender has also been plying her trade in the NSW National Premier League Women’s (NPLW) with Macarthur Rams where in 2022 she was part of the squad that won the Championship.

McComasky said she was eager to get started with the Red & Black.

“I can’t wait to get started with the team. The Wanderers have always been known as a great club, but ultimately what brought me here is the fact that this is my hometown team,” said McComasky.

“I was born and raised in Western Sydney, and have been a fan since I was young, so to be given the opportunity to play here is a dream come true.

“Personally, I just want to grow and be the best player I can be. I want to be playing every game, grow in confidence, and become an overall better player.

“For the team, I want to make Finals and win the competition.”

Head coach Kat Smith believed Madison would bolster the squad this season.

“Having spent time abroad at a US College in her formative football years, her unique experiences and qualities will be a great asset to our club,” said Smith.

“Not to mention her consistent performances across the NPLW season and versatility to play a role in midfield or defence for the Red & Black.

“Madison’s previous domestic experience and professionalism are also greatly beneficial as we build greater depth across the squad with established and emerging talent to push towards Finals football.”
