Mewett signs scholarship deal

Western Sydney Wanderers FC have tonight confirmed the signing of defender Ben Mewett on a two-year scholarship deal.

The left back joins the Red & Black after making over 20 appearances with the Central Coast Mariners academy, playing a key role in their backline.

Mewett featured for the Jets in the U14s and U15s NPL 2 NSW competitions, earning selection in the NSW Metro White team that won the 2022 National Youth Championships, before joining the Mariners academy in early 2024.

This season is set to be Mewett’s first in the A-Leagues competition.

Head coach Alen Stajcic welcomed Ben to the club.

“We welcome Ben to the Wanderers and look forward to continuing his growth here in Western Sydney,” said Stajcic.

“We’re excited to help him continue his development and reach his full potential here at the Wanderers.”

Ben said he was eager for the challenge and ready to step up.

“Wanderers are a club I’ve always dreamed to play for, ever since I was 6 years old and going to my first A-League games,” said Mewett.

“I can’t wait to show the fans what I can bring to this great club on the pitch.

“This wouldn’t be possible without my parents unwavering support; the amount of sacrifices they have made to get me to this point in my career is just unbelievable.”
