Milanovic: Best moment of my career so far

Nicolas Milanovic’s first ever A-League Men’s hat-trick has led Western Sydney to a 4-1 win over the Newcastle Jets, their first of the season.

He scored two goals in 11 first half minutes to put the Wanderers in complete control, and added his third from the penalty spot in the second half to secure a vital three points for Alen Stajcic’s side.

Speaking post-match, Milanovic was still in awe of his accomplishment.

“It’s just like, like far out—I scored three!” he said, expressing his excitement after the match.

“I can’t even tell you how I felt. It was just in the moment. Gave it 123 and that was it.

“I feel good. It was probably the best, the best moment of my career so far. I’ll never forget that.”

The Red & Black needed a good performance in front of their own fans after a disappointing loss at home in Round Three, and they got exactly that as they were dominant for much of the match, running out deserved winners.

“We needed that for the members and fans to get them going a bit, and we needed that for us,” said Milanovic.

“We need to get the ball rolling this year and that puts us right back in it.”

With the international break now underway, the Wanderers have a chance to recharge before returning to action in one of the season’s most anticipated fixtures – the Sydney Derby in Unite Round. You can get your tickets here.
