Morrissey signs deal with Wanderers

Western Sydney Wanderers FC have confirmed the signing of goalkeeper Teresa Morrissey for the upcoming A-Leagues season.

The keeper makes her return to the Liberty A-League competition after a recent season in the Football Victoria competition where she was coached by head coach Kat Smith.

After breaking into the domestic competition in 2015, Morrissey spent a number of years in the United States at the University of Rhode.

Returning back to the Liberty A-League this season, Morrissey said she was looking forward to the team excelling.

“The standard of football has grown immensely, I can’t remember much from my first season but one thing for sure is that it’s a completely different league. Facilities are better, medical care is more readily available, and players are getting better and better each year, and it’s cool to see how things have progressed across the board,” said Morrissey.

“Living in another country and playing the sport I love was an amazing opportunity, and it was a learning experience that I’ll value forever.

“The style of football and culture is very different over there and which was fun to take part in, and there are many challenges and rewarding experiences to take away from it.

“I’m just keen to be playing along side such great players, get stronger and develop as a player. I’ll be coming back from a knee injury, but i’m confident it will go smoothly.

“We’re lucky to have a great coaching staff, my teammates work so hard and with everyone noticeably improving every session, I have no doubt our team will excel this season. “
