Nieuwenhof continues to shine in Sydney Derby triumph

Midfielder Calem Nieuwenhof was once again a standout in the Red & Black’s emphatic 1-0 win against cross-town rivals Sydney FC on Saturday night.

Nieuwenhof, who made the switch from Sky Blue to Red & Black during the off-season, has played with a wisdom beyond his years in the Wanderers midfield this season.

Having made six consecutive starts for the club this season, Nieuwenhof has gone from strength to strength with his growth seen best in Saturday night’s blockbuster Sydney Derby at Allianz Stadium

“I’m absolutely loving it (on time at Wanderers),” said Niewenhof.

“The (Red & Black Bloc) have come out in force today and got around us.

“They’ve been so good throughout the whole season and for them to show up today and be our 12th man, they really helped us get over the line.

“That was awesome today.”

The Wanderers did not stop fighting in the biggest fixture of the A-Leagues season with Nieuwenhof crediting the drive of the members and fans to push the team over the line.

“I’m loving the start to the season and playing every game. We’ve all been working hard, we’re all so fit,” said Nieuwenhof.

“It was such a tough game today, we didn’t stop running all day.

“The whole Ninko situation is a bit touchy – but we’re both happy at the Wanderers, we’ve been loving the start of the season, and we want to keep going for the fans.”
