Western Sydney Wanderers FC are proud to announce the very first signing from the Wanderers Girls Academy to the Ninja A-League team: Rising star Nikkita Fazzari.
The 17-year-old midfielder/winger has officially signed on for the upcoming season, marking a significant milestone for the club’s pathway development program.
Her journey through the Wanderers Girls Academy has been marked by outstanding performances, including key goals in important matches and a host of accolades.
Notably, Fazzari was named the 2023 NSW Futsal Premier League Player of the Year and secured the Golden Boot in the U17s Girls Category, showcasing her prowess in both outdoor football and futsal.
Internationally, Fazzari has represented Australia in the AFC Women’s Futsal Asian Cup Qualifiers, scoring five goals and helping secure Australia’s qualification for the 2025 AFC Women’s Asian Cup. She finished the tournament as Australia’s top scorer, highlighting her potential on the continental stage.
Ninja A-League head coach Geoff Abrahams congratulated Nikkita.
“This is an exciting story for everyone involved in our Women’s and Girls Programs. Nikkita is the first of many that will progress from our academy to our A-Leagues squad,” said Abrahams.
“There will be a lot of proud academy coaches and staff, and I think everyone saw very early on the exciting talent that is Nikkita.
“She’s made steps throughout the NPL season and we think the timing is right to bring her into the A-Leagues set-up.
“She will be the first of a few players this season and many more in the future.”
Nikkita Fazzari said she was grateful for the opportunity.
“Coming through the Wanderers Girls Academy gave me the perfect foundation to grow as a player and a person. I was lucky enough to train alongside the A-League Women’s squad, and form day one, I was welcomed into a professional environment where I felt both supported and challenged,” said Fazzari.
“That experience (with the A-Leagues team) really cemented my goal. This is where I want to be and I’m grateful for the opportunity to take this next step.
“This season, I’m focused on learning as much as I can from the experienced players around me and pushing myself both physically and mentally. I want to continue growing my game and contribute to the team.
“To all the incredible Wanderers members and fans, your support makes me proud to play for this club and I can’t wait to give everything for this badge.”
