The Western Sydney Wanderers NPL 1 took a step towards safety when they defeated St George FC 3-0 in a triumphant night for the Red & Black side.
The Western Sydney Wanderers have walked away 3-0 winners against St George FC on Saturday night in a win that puts the Rooty Hill side back in the driver’s seat as they look to navigate their way out of the relegation zone and into safety.
The Wanderers welcomed Anthony Pantazopoulos into the starting side in addition to last week’s A-League additions as they looked to strengthen their chances of survival needing at least four of the remaining six points to stand a chance of retaining their spot in the competition.

St George FC dominated early proceedings, maintaining early possession and forcing the Wanderers into a low block out of the blocks.
Although, it would be the Wanderers who struck first through a well worked combination play that found Aydan Hammond, who would convert the cutback to open the scoring.
Edmun Haddad could have capitalised on a goalkeeping mishap, but his strike travelled over the crossbar, as would Lual’s added time strike, which was identical to the chance set up for the opener.
The visitors would dominate most of the second half, but it would be the Wanderers who made it count. Following an attacking raid, the Red and Black would win a free kick on the edge of the box to which Pantazopoulos would take and force the keeper into a save, only for Tristan Arrarte to knock in the rebound.
Max Hately would see his incisive run met, and would combine with Johnny Pavlovic for the Wanderers third as the substitutes would top off a clinical performance that could very well rescue their season.
The win was almost identical to their reverse fixture earlier this season, also ending 3-0.
The win means the Wanderers clash with the Mariners’ Academy is a relegation play off, as the winner of the game will escape the relegation zone, regardless of Mount Druitt’s game against NWS Spirit.
