On Sunday evening, the Western Sydney Wanderers NPL 2 team will be looking to bounce back from last weekend’s defeat when they face St George FC at Lily Homes Stadium.
The Wanderers previous match against St George FC was a tight affair with goals from Marley Peterson and Mohamed Adam leading the Red & Black to a 2-1 victory.
St George FC come into this game in 13th place. However, their spirits should be high after a 3-0 win over Macarthur Rams on the weekend and they will also make their maiden appearance in the FFA Cup Round of 32 at the end of the month.
The Red & Black will have to watch out for striker Juan Carlos Romero, who has five goals in his last two appearances against the Wanderers.
For the Wanderers, Jacob Vasiliou is one to keep an eye on. The 18-year-old was a member of the Wanderers U20 side which won the Grand Final against Hills United in 2018.
This year, Vasiliou has established himself in the NPL 2 first grade side. Able to play on either wing, the youngster was recently selected for a Young Socceroos training camp which will be held in Canberra later this month.
Adrian Valenti could also have an important role to play in Sunday’s fixture. Normally used on the left side of the defence, he signed for the Red & Black in 2017 after playing junior football for Marconi Stallions
Still only 18 years old, Valenti was involved in the Wanderers squads that reached the last two Foxtel Y-League Grand Finals and is now a regular starter in NPL 2.
