Our NPL NSW side will host Sydney United in their final home match of the season on Sunday.
The side will be looking to end their season on a high in the final few weeks despite their losing run, and they will gain confidence from their performance against a strong APIA Leichhardt side last weekend.
Phil Gigliotti and Awan Lual impressed, with the former bagging a double and the latter scoring the opener in a dramatic match, though APIA would end up winning 5-3.
It was a solid attacking performance from the Young Wanderers and will give many of the players belief heading into the final three fixtures of 2024.
They currently sit eight points clear of the relegation zone, so may be able to secure another season of NPL football even if they do not get a result on the weekend, and they are still on course to be the best academy side in the competition by far, despite the points deduction the team received.
The players and staff will be desperate to get a win they have been craving for so long, and they could do it against a Sydney United side in indifferent form.
They recovered from a slow start of the season to be well in the finals race, but one win in five has now put their place in the top six in doubt, they were held to a 0-0 draw by our crosstown rivals at home last round, and have lost to Marconi, Rockdale and Blacktown in recent weeks.
The team from Edensor Park did win the reverse fixture, putting on a clinical showing in a 3-2 victory where Patrick Antelmi bagged a double.
