The Western Sydney Wanderers NPL 2 team will be taking on Bonnyrigg White Eagles tonight and will be hoping to maintain the momentum from last weekend’s incredible 6-0 win over Spirit FC.
The clash is expected to be a tough contest with Bonnyrigg having the joint second best defence in the NPL 2 competition and like the Wanderers, are undefeated in seven games.
There will be a couple of familiar faces on Saturday with former Wanderers Sam Gallaway and Richard Darko now playing for Bonnyrigg, while they can also call on the services of former Australian youth international David Vrankovic.
For the Red & Black, Dean Pelekanos has made a bright start since joining the Academy at the start of this season.
A Blacktown City junior, the central midfielder has played in every game for the U20s side and made his NPL 2 first grade debut for the club last weekend.
Pelekanos is a local, having studied at Hills Sports High School and was also part of the Australian Schoolboys team that toured the United Kingdom and Ireland in January.
Sticking with the U20s, Adrian Valenti is another player who has had an excellent start to the year. Valenti signed for the Wanderers in 2017 after previously playing for Marconi Stallions.
Still only 18 year’s old, Valenti was part of the squads that reached the last two Foxtel Y-League Grand Finals.
This year, the pacey left back has appeared in seven games for the U20s, scoring twice.
