The Western Sydney Wanderers NPL 2 team will face Hills United at Sydney United Sports Centre on Sunday afternoon and could move ahead of Hills on the table with a victory.
The last time these two teams met was back in Round 3 of this season. The Wanderers went down 3-2 to Hills despite goals from Lachlan Scott and Abraham Majok.
Despite being winless in their last five games, Hills currently lie in fifth place, one position ahead of the Wanderers.
Daniel Fogarty is Hills United’s top scorer with 12 goals in 15 games this season, including five goals in his last three appearances.
For the Red & Black, Henry Davies will be looking to build on a solid performance in last week’s game.
Davies joined the Wanderers Academy in 2016, signing for the first-grade squad. Normally used as a central defender, Davies has represented Australia at an Under-17 level and made his Wanderers Foxtel Y-League debut against Newcastle Jets in Round 1 of the 2016/17 season.
Solomon Monahan-Vaiika is another playing to keep an eye on in the coming weeks.
Monahan-Vaiika initially joined the Red & Black’s U20 side in 2016.
After a stint with the Newcastle Jets, the 19-year-old defender has returned to the Wanderers, slotting back into our NPL 2 first grade match last weekend against St George FC.
Monahan-Vaiika also played for the FFA Centre of Excellence and represented Australia at the Under-17 World Cup in 2015.
