NPL Preview: Wanderers vs Marconi

The Western Sydney Wanderers will be hoping to build on their solid performance last round this Sunday afternoon when they take on Marconi Stallions at Marconi Stadium.

The Stallions are currently leading the NPL 2 and are seven points clear of second-placed Northern Tigers.

Meanwhile, the Wanderers will start the weekend in fifth position and are ten points behind Sunday’s opponent.

The Marconi squad features eight players with Hyundai A-League experience, most notably inaugural Wanderers captain Michael Beauchamp.

Marconi forward Sean Rooney is currently the top scorer in the NPL 2 with 16 goals to his name. The Stallions have plenty of attacking firepower with Mirjan Pavlovic and Marko Jesic also contributing this season with six goals each.

Jordan Hall joined the Wanderers last week after previously playing for Melbourne City. The defender was named in the starting side in his first match for the club and put in an impressive performance at centre-back.

Despite spending the last couple of seasons interstate, Hall is a Western Sydney local, having played his junior football at Blacktown City.

Mathieu Cordier also put in another impressive effort in last week’s clash. After suffering ten months on the sidelines due to injury last year, Cordier has regained his spot in the team, starting regularly at left-back.

When these two teams met back in Round 4 they played out a very entertaining game with the score settling at 2-2. Emmanuel Gonzalez and Oliver Puflett got onto the scoresheet for the Red & Black that night.

Entry into the match is FREE for all Wanderers Members. Tickets for non-Members are $10 for Adults and $5 for concession card holders.
