The Western Sydney Wanderers NPL 2 team will be looking to secure their first win of the season this Saturday night when they face Rydalmere Lions at Sydney United Sports Centre.

The clash promises to have plenty of goals with both teams averaging over two goals a game so far this season.

Rydalmere are in their first year of the NSW NPL 2 after earning promotion back in 2017. They have seen mixed results so far in the competition but earned themselves their first win defeating Parramatta FC 4-1 last round.

The Lions boast former Socceroo Ahmad Elrich in their side, who is playing in his second season for the club. Ahmad’s cousin Zak also plays for Rydalmere and previously trialled for the Wanderers, playing the club’s very first match against Nepean FC in 2012.

Rydalmere’s main threat on the park will be last season’s top scorer, Amaury Gauthier, who bagged 33 goals in 24 games, as well as winning the 2017 NPL 3 Player of the Year Award.

For the Red & Black, Daniel Wilmering will be a player to watch on Saturday.

The 17-year-old has made the step up to the Wanderers NPL 2 first grade squad this season after previously being part of the U18 Grand Final winning sides in both 2016 and 2017.

Wilmering has regularly played at left-back and his attacking raids down the flank have caught the eye so far this season.

Mohamed Al Taay will also be another Wanderer to watch, having joined the Academy back in 2017 after an impressive stint with Marconi Stallions.

Entry to Saturday’s match against Rydalmere Lions is free for Wanderers Members.
