NPL Women’s Wrap: Wanderers complete comeback to defeat the Gladesville Ravens

The Western Sydney Wanderers NPL Women’s side produced a superb second-half comeback to defeat Gladesville Ravens 4-3 at Wanderers Football Park.

The Western Sydney Wanderers NPL Women’s produced a superb second-half comeback to defeat Gladesville Ravens 4-3 at Wanderers Football Park, overturning a two-goal deficit to remain unbeaten in the opening month of the NPL Women’s NSW season.

Looking to maintain their undefeated start to the season, the Wanderers entered the contest full of confidence but were forced to respond after the visitors made a sharp start and established an early lead.

Despite creating several promising attacking moments in the opening stages, including early pressure through Miriam Zumaya and Nikkita Fazzari, the Red and Black found themselves two goals behind midway through the first half after Gladesville capitalised on key moments.

The Wanderers continued to show composure and attacking intent rather than allowing the game to drift, and their persistence was rewarded before halftime when Ruby Betro pulled a goal back to shift momentum heading into the break.

Although the Ravens restored their two-goal advantage shortly before halftime, the Wanderers again responded strongly and lifted the tempo of the contest in the second stanza.

The pressure began to build through sustained attacking territory, with Miriam Zumaya heavily involved as the Wanderers pushed higher and asked more questions of the Ravens defence.

That attacking pressure brought reward when a dangerous delivery forced an own goal, reducing the margin and giving the Wanderers renewed belief.

Soon after, Zumaya produced a standout finish from the edge of the area to draw the Wanderers level, capping off a strong individual performance and swinging momentum fully toward the home side.

With confidence growing, the Wanderers continued to press and eventually completed the comeback through Nikkita Fazzari, whose goal sealed an impressive turnaround and gave the Red and Black the lead for the first time in the match.

The visitors looked for a late response, but the Wanderers remained composed defensively in the closing stages to secure all three points.

The result continues an outstanding start to the season for Jamie Dibb’s side, who once again showed resilience, attacking quality and belief under pressure to extend their unbeaten run
