NRMA Insurance, major sponsor of the Western Sydney Wanderers FC, is helping to bring football back to Western Sydney with the launch of the NRMA Insurance Ball Amnesty in Toongabbie today.

The NRMA Insurance Ball Amnesty will travel across the Western Sydney community throughout the A-League season, giving football fans the chance to exchange their used ball (size 3 and above) for a brand new NRMA Insurance Wanderers football.

All balls collected will be donated – along with some brand new ones – to the Amnesty-s charity partner, the Salvation Army-s Oasis Youth Foundation that coordinates the Sports Impact Program that engages disadvantaged youths through sport.

“Like football, NRMA Insurance has deep roots within Western Sydney with a large portion of both our people and customers based in the region,” said John Lewis – NRMA Insurance.

“The NRMA Insurance Ball Amnesty is about bringing football back to the west after it has been starved of a team in the top tier of domestic football for years. Partnering with The Oasis Youth Foundation and the Sports Impact Program offered a great opportunity to work with those less fortunate in Western Sydney and we-re proud to launch what we believe will be a hugely successful campaign both for the club and region”.

The Sports Impact program, based in Western Sydney, works to create positive community relationships by creating safe meeting places for young people, teaching practical life skills and creating an environment of positive peers and strong role models through volunteers.

“The Sports Impact Program looks to reach out to disadvantaged youths in the Western Sydney region through sport which is a universal tool to bring people together. It-s fantastic that we now have a great association with an iconic brand like NRMA Insurance and a growing club like the Western Sydney Wanderers” said Randy Wood – The Salvation Army.

Fans also have the chance to win some fantastic prizes after they have exchanged their ball as part of the Amnesty with NRMA Insurance challenging fans to upload the most original and creative photo of themselves with their new Wanderers ball.

The NRMA Insurance Ball Amnesty was officially launched at Metella Road Public School this afternoon where 85 students were able to take part in a football clinic with the full Western Sydney Wanderers team.

“It-s a great idea and NRMA Insurance are making a fantastic contribution to football in Western Sydney as well as seeking to help those less fortunate. The Amnesty trailer is already starting to fill up so we look forward to seeing fans down at the games throughout season, contributing to this great initiative,” said Michael Beauchamp – captain of the Western Sydney Wanderers.
Following their visit to Metella Road Public School, the next stop for the Amnesty trailer will be the Blacktown headquarters of their charity partner, the Salvation Army, on Wednesday 21 November.

The NRMA Insurance Ball Amnesty trailer will also visit every Wanderers home game at Parramatta Stadium. For the full schedule and Spread The Ball competition details, click here.
