In the Foxtel National Youth League on Saturday afternoon, the Western Sydney Wanderers were unfortunate to go down 2-1 to Perth Glory after a good display at Blacktown Football Park.

The Wanderers started brightly with Alusine Fofanah proving to be a menace to the Perth defence early on.

Steve Kuzmanovski almost had the Red & Blacks in front early but his powerful shot was well saved by the Glory keeper.

Fofanah was at it again minutes later, dribbling into the box and beating a defender only for his shot to go straight at the keeper.

The first goal of the game came in the 27th minute courtesy of a superb finish from Tariq Maia.

A fast counter attack and reverse ball by Nick Sullivan saw Maia pick out the top corner with a well-taken shot from the edge of the area to put the Wanderers in front.

Glory found their equaliser in the 36th minute as a deflected Nathan Costello volley found its way into the back of the net.

In the 61st minute, the Red & Black did everything but put the ball in the back of the net as some desperate defending from the away side kept the score at 1-1.

Slobodan Vulin then put the away side in front from the spot against the run of play after Thomas Manos brought down Todd Noris in the box with less than 10 minutes to go.
