Outcome of Match Review Panel

On Monday, 5 February 2024, the independent Match Review Panel (MRP)- consisting of Simon Micallef (Chair), Alan Davidson and Con Diomis – convened to consider two incidents arising out the Isuzu UTE A­ League Men and Liberty A-League Women matches played between Friday, 2 February 2024 and Sunday, 4 February 2024, in relation to Thomas Beadling of Western Sydney Wanderers FC.

In addition, Football Australia notes that there were several other incidents which arose over the course of the A-Leagues matches outlined above, which are also set out below.

Thomas Beadling

On Monday, 5 February 2024, the independent Match Review Panel (MRP)- consisting of Simon Micallef (Chair), Alan Davidson and Con Diomis – convened to consider two incidents arising out the Isuzu UTE A­ League Men and Liberty A-League Women matches played between Friday, 2 February 2024 and Sunday, 4 February 2024, in relation to Toigay Arslan of Melbourne City FC and Thomas Beadling of Western Sydney Wanderers FC.

The independent MRP considered an incident in or around the 52nd minute of Western Sydney Wanderers FC’s Isuzu UTE A-League Men match against Macarthur FC on Sunday, 5 February 2024, in which Thomas Beadling (Beadling) received a direct Red Card.

In accordance with the Regulations, the MRP has the authority to consider the incident as Beadling was issued with a direct Red Card by the referee.

The MRP determined that Beadling committed the offence of “Serious foul play”. The minimum sanction for the offence is a one (l) match suspension, being the Mandatory Match Suspension. The MRP has proposed a suspension of three (3) matches for the offence, being the minimum sanction for the offence plus two (2) additional matches. Beadling has until 2:00pm (AEDT) on Tuesday, 6 February 2024 to advise Football Australia whether he wishes to refer the matter to the independent Disciplinary and Ethics Committee

FootbalI Australia confirms that it has reviewed the comments made by Western Sydney Wanderers FC Head Coach Marko Rudan in the post-match media conference and will be issuing him with a show cause notice under the Football Australia Code of Conduct & Ethics. No further comments will be made at this time.
