Foreign import Jerome Polenz made his second appearance for the NRMA Western Sydney Wanderers last night when, after a 0-0 score line at the final whistle, unfortunately went down 5-3 on penalties against the Melbourne Heart.
The German arrived in the country just two weeks ago but he believes as the days go by, he is feeling more comfortable here in Australia.
“Of course, I had 30 minutes against the Wolves on Tuesday and 60 minutes tonight so I-m feeling better and my fitness is improving,” he said.
Although the scoreboard showed a defeat, the 25-year-old can see the early signs of a successful Wanderers side being formed.
“It was a good test tonight, especially for me coming up against a side we will play through the season,” Polenz added. “We showed we are in good shape and can mix it with them, so that is a positive.
“We are unhappy that we didn-t win, we want to win every game.”
With the pre-season camp coming to an end tomorrow, Polenz is thankful for the chance to take part in the camp.
“It-s good that we have had the chance to come away with everyone, it-s definitely helped us get to know each other a lot more.”
