The Western Sydney Wanderers will face familiar foes FC Seoul on Wednesday night in Korea at 9:30pm (AEDT) for Match Day 3 of the 2017 Asian Champions League group stage.
The two sides are no strangers to one another, having squared-off in both the 2014 and 2015 tournaments.
Three of the four meetings have ended in draws, with the Wanderers grabbing the sole win with a 2-0 victory in the second leg of the 2014 semi-final.
Both sides come into this match desperate to pick up their first points in this year’s competition.
Like the Wanderers, Seoul have endured a tough start, going down 1-0 to Shanghai SIPG on Match Day 1 and being thumped 5-2 by Urawa Red Diamonds on Match Day 2.
The Koreans will be encouraged by their domestic form though, where they’ve started the season with four points from the opening two games after the weekend’s 1-0 win against Gangwon FC.
Seoul will look to the match-winner from that game, striker Dejan Damjanovic, to lead the line against the Wanderers; the Montenegrin boasts more than 120 goals in over 200 appearances for the club.
The Wanderers meanwhile will be heading into the match feeling refreshed after a week’s break in the Hyundai A-League due to a split round.
Tony Popovic’s side travelled to Korea on Sunday morning and will be hoping to use the extra days rest to their advantage.
They’ll be hoping to build on their undefeated record against the Koreans in front of what’s set to be a boisterous home crowd.
With Group F leaders Shanghai and Urawa playing one-another, a win for the Wanderers would provide a massive boost for the hopes of qualifying from the group stage.
