Rising Star Talia Younis Re-Signs with the Wanderers

Western Sydney Wanderers FC have tonight confirmed the re-signing of Talia Younis for the upcoming Ninja A-League season.

Talia Younis has been progressing through the Wanderers’ academy, where she trained alongside the boys’ squads for four seasons, before joining the senior team ahead of the 2023/24 season.

At just 14 years old, she made history by becoming the youngest player to debut in the A-Leagues Women competition, quickly establishing herself as a promising talent.

Throughout the 2023/24 season, Younis made 15 appearances, contributing key assists and showcasing her versatility across midfield roles.

She was also selected for the CommBank Junior Matildas squad for the AFC Under-17 Women’s Asian Cup in May 2024, highlighting her potential at the national level.

Talia’s maturity and composure on the ball have made her an important part of the Wanderers’ setup, and with her recent re-signing, she is set to play an increasingly influential role as she continues to develop.

Head coach Geoff Abrahams said retaining a player like Talia Younis reflects the club’s commitment to nurturing young, homegrown talent who embody the values of the club.

“Talia represents exactly what we value at this club and brings a fearless drive to improve every time she steps on the pitch. From day one, she’s shown remarkable composure and maturity beyond her years, and we’re proud to continue supporting her development,” said Abrahams.

“Keeping Talia in Red and Black is important for our future and reflects the culture we’re building at the club.”

Younis said she was eager to continue her development and help drive a successful season for the club.

“The confidence and belief the club has shown in me means a lot, and I truly believe in the potential this club has, from the coaching staff to my teammates,” said Younis.

“I want to be a major contributor to the team’s and the club’s success and continue to showcase my ability.

“Thank you to all the fans for your loyalty and support, even when results didn’t go our way. I hope to make you proud this season, for the sake of all of Western Sydney.

“I’d like to thank God, my family, my past and present coaches, my teammates, and of course, the amazing fans. I’m so appreciative of this opportunity and the support I’ve been given.”
