Western Sydney Wanderers duo Cushla Rue and Chloe Berryhill have been recognised for their excellence off the field, receiving prestigious Professional Footballers Australia (PFA) Scholarships at a gala event in Sydney on Monday night.
Held at Doltone House on Darling Harbour, the event brought together leaders from across Australian football to celebrate players making a meaningful impact beyond the pitch through education, personal development and community contribution.
Berryhill was awarded a PFA Craig Foster Scholarship, recognising her commitment to driving positive change and pursuing pathways that extend beyond her playing career. The scholarship supports players who demonstrate a passion for areas such as media, human rights and community impact, highlighting Berryhill’s leadership and ambition away from football.
Rue was the recipient of a PFA Kimon Taliadoros Scholarship, an award that celebrates players excelling in their off-field development. The scholarship acknowledges Rue’s dedication to her education, personal growth and contribution to the wider community alongside her football career.
The recognition of both players reflects the Wanderers’ ongoing commitment to developing well-rounded individuals who lead both on and off the field, while also reinforcing the strength of the club’s Ninja A-League program.
The awards formed part of a broader evening celebrating contributions across the game, with players, administrators and stakeholders gathering in Sydney during a significant period for women’s football in Australia.
