Rue is Red & Black

Western Sydney Wanderers FC have today confirmed the signing of forward Cushla Rue for the next two Liberty A-League seasons.

A bright star of the future, Rue hails originally from Bathurst and was part of Wellington Phoenix’s inaugural squad where she featured in two matches last season.

Rue arrives in Western Sydney off the back of recently being part of the Young Matildas squad that competed at the FIFA Women’s Under 20s World Cup.

“I’m really looking forward to the next two seasons at Western Sydney and I’m grateful for the opportunity,” said Rue.

“I’m excited to join the Wanderers knowing of their professionalism as a club and their efforts to offer strong support to their players. When the opportunity arose I knew I would be entering a dedicated, challenging and competitive environment which will help me in striving for further development and improvement as a footballer, especially with the experience of Kat Smith as head coach and the resources offered at the club.

“A big goal for me this season is to continue my personal growth as a footballer, entering the season with a winning mentality and belief in myself, building on my confidence on the ball to create opportunities going forward and being a dangerous player in attack.

“I’m excited to play alongside a talented group of footballers and help create a positive, respectful, and professional team environment. With a team first mentality I will do whatever it takes to help us be successful and win games.”
