After Friday night’s thrilling double-header at Allianz Stadium, all eyes turn to Saturday’s action-packed lineup for the Unite Round.
First up, Brisbane Roar will clash with Adelaide United in a battle to set the tone for the day. But the main event – the highlight of the weekend – is the second Sydney Derby of the 2024/25 Isuzu UTE A-League season.
The Sky Blues and Red & Black will go head-to-head in what promising to be another fiery encounter.
For Wanderers forward Zac Sapsford, the Sydney Derby holds special significance. In Round 5 of last season, Sapsford etched his name into derby history, scoring the decisive goal in a 1-0 victory at Allianz Stadium.
Now, as the Wanderers gear up for another showdown at the same venue, he’s determined to help his team settle the score after a narrow 2-1 defeat to Sydney FC in Round 1.
“It’s a great game; it’s the best game of the season, so we all look forward to it,” shared Sapsford.
“Hopefully this game will go our way—we’re ready for it.”
With Unite Round adding an extra layer of excitement to the fixture, Sapsford acknowledged the unique atmosphere but emphasized the team’s singular focus on victory.
“Maybe it feels a little different because it’s Unite Round, but for me personally and for our whole team, we see it as the same derby—we need to win,” said Sapsford.
“It’s the best game for us, and we’ll work even harder in this game.”
