Seven-goal thriller sees Wanderers downed by Glory

Perth Glory staged a second half comeback to defeat Western Sydney Wanderers 4-3 in one of the games of the Hyundai A-League season.

Perth Glory staged a second half comeback to defeat Western Sydney Wanderers 4-3 in one of the games of the Hyundai A-League season.

Juande’s 86th minute penalty capped off an enthralling seven-goal thriller in Western Australia, which saw Tony Popovic’s side score four times in the final 20 minutes.

It was a sickening blow for the visiting Wanderers, who had taken the lead late in the opening half through Kwame Yeboah.

Yeboah, making his first start in the competition in over five years, teed up second half goals for Roly Bonevacia and Abraham Majok either side of Diego Castro’s strike.

But Glory turned on the style in a frantic seven-minute period to assert their claim as Hyundai A-League front runners.

Ivan Franjic pulled a goal back despite a valiant save from Nicholas Suman, and the fullback was on hand to find Andy Keogh at the back post for an 82nd minute equaliser.

The comeback was made complete four minutes later when Juande sent Suman the wrong way from the spot to floor the Wanderers and maintain Glory’s six-point lead at the summit.
