Western Sydney Wanderers FC have today confirmed the signing of midfielder Siena Arrarte for the upcoming Ninja A-League season on a scholarship contract.
Arrarte has signed her first A-Leagues deal having been recently overseas with Spanish outfit Mislata CF.
The 18-year-old has featured in Portugal’s U17 and U18 national team sides and was looking forward to contributing to the Wanderers this season.
“I want to make my debut and come on for the team, and of course I want to make the most of that opportunity if that comes, but primarily I want to come into training with the intention of working hard, regardless of if I get that chance. My main aim is to help the team and not myself, so if I can come into training like that and with a smile on my face, everything else will just fall into place,” said Arrarte.
“Head coach Robbie Hooker brings the energy that we need, even if we don’t have it. He knows what we need to work on from a team perspective, but also on an individual level, and will give us the tools to work on both. He knows the tone to set from the outset, which is very important in a coach to guide the young players like me to keep improving and keep going.”
Head Coach Robbie Hooker said that Arrarte had impressed him in the off-season, and that he was expecting her to step up in a significant way this season.
“Siena exploded onto our radar during the off-season and has consistently impressed us during our sessions since. The contract that she has been offered is a testament to the hard work that she continues to put in day in and day out,” said Hooker.
“She has already come a long way for a young player, so she is definitely one to keep an eye on during this upcoming Ninja A-League season.”
