Simmons signs two-year contract extension

Western Sydney Wanderers FC have today confirmed that Aidan Simmons has signed a contract extension that will see him at the club until the end of the 2025/26 Isuzu UTE A-Leagues season.

Simmons joined the Wanderers in June 2022 from the club’s cross-town rivals and was quick to make an impact, going on to feature in 13 matches and score one goal in his first season in the Red & Black.

The versatile 20-year-old can play in both attack and defence, and has brought a youthful energy to head coach Marko Rudan’s squad.

Western Sydney Wanderers head coach Marko Rudan congratulated Simmons on the contract extension.

“We are very proud to have retained Aidan for an additional two A-Leagues season and are eager to continue to work on his development,” said Rudan.

Simmons said he was looking forward to continuing where he left off.

“At the start of the journey when I came to the club, it was a tough start. At the back-end of the season, I was able to get minutes and break into the first team, which brought so many good memories,” said Simmons.

“I just want to continue and follow through with that to create some success for the club.

“I want to bring my energy to the team, especially as a younger player in the side, if I get minutes I want to play my style of football which Is attacking but also helping out in defence as keeping clean sheets are the most important part of the game. Hopefully I can get some goals and assists too.

“I’d just like to thank my family for everything they’ve done for me, for my whole football career so far, and everyone else close to me.

“I want to thank the club and Boss (head coach Marko Rudan) for putting their trust in me for the next couple of years and I want to show everyone what I can do.”

Simmons is currently sidelined with injury and is expected to return to the squad in mid-December.
