Stajcic commits to the Wanderers with two-year extension

Western Sydney Wanderers FC are proud to announce that Isuzu UTE A-League Men’s head coach Alen Stajcic has re-signed with the club for a further two seasons, continuing a powerful homecoming story for the Western Sydney local.

Stajcic has spent his entire life in the Western Suburbs, living, working, and playing throughout the region, while passionately championing local talent and advocating for the area.

Now, as head coach of the Western Sydney Wanderers, he’s not only returned home but reignited belief in a region rich in football passion.

Since taking the reins ahead of the 2024/25 Isuzu UTE A-League season, Stajcic has overseen a dramatic transformation.

In just one campaign, he has led the Wanderers on their best run of form in a decade, with the team going 12 matches unbeaten, topping the league for goals scored and climbing back into the Finals Series.

His win percentage stands as the highest of any Wanderers manager in nine years, underlining his immediate and profound impact.

Stajcic’s tenure has also seen the rise of a dangerous and dynamic front third, spearheaded by the red-hot combination of Socceroo Brandon Borrello and former Wanderer Nicolas Milanovic, who together have been involved in 34 goals this season.

At the same time, he’s placed his faith in a new generation of talent, with young stars like Oscar Priestman, Alex Bonetig, Aydan Hammond, Anthony Pantazopoulos and Zac Sapsford playing pivotal roles in the team’s resurgence.

After a season out of the Finals picture, Stajcic has restored the identity and hunger that Wanderland is known for.

His vision, grounded in attacking ambition, local pride and maximising player performance, has laid a strong foundation for the club’s future.

Western Sydney Wanderers CEO Scott Hudson said Stajcic’s re-signing signals a new exciting chapter for the club.

“Alen has done an incredible job in his first season,” said Hudson.

“His leadership, connection to the region, and drive to succeed have been instrumental in our progress this season.”

“We’re thrilled to have him locked in for the next two years and can’t wait to see what’s next under his guidance.”

Head coach Alen Stajcic said he was proud of the progress made in his first season in charge and is determined to build on that momentum heading into 2025/26.

“I am extremely humbled to be given the opportunity to continue my journey at the club,” said Stajcic.

“In such a privileged position, it’s been great to see the progress that we’ve made as a football club. It was extremely pleasing to see the A-League Men’s side achieve so much – from qualifying for the Finals Series, the undefeated run that spanned three months and the attacking intent and positivity within the team.

“However, the most rewarding aspects this season have been the return of fan engagement and strong crowd numbers towards the end of the season, and most importantly, the culture and leadership developed by the staff and players.

“We know we accomplished a lot, but the ultimate achievements were still missing and we must now work even harder to continue to grow the team and the fanbase to attain the results we all desire.

“There’s still plenty of work to do, and I can’t wait for the 2025/26 A-Leagues season to begin.”
